T-4 Weeks Until Exams Begin!
The next few weeks can feel like a bit of a strange time for a lot of families.
Routines change for not only your teen but also you! Motivation might feel like a rollercoaster.. And as exams start to feel a lot closer —its important to have a clear plan in place.
So I just wanted to share a simple reminder that applies to any student preparing for exams right now:
👉 What matters most isn’t how much they do.
👉 It’s how they’re using their time.
At this stage in the year, the students who tend to make the biggest progress are the ones who start to:
• identify and focus on their weaker areas (instead of avoiding them)
• stop relying on rereading and start actively testing themselves
• pay attention to how marks are actually awarded
• practise applying their knowledge — not just reviewing it
It doesn’t need to be perfect.
But even small shifts in this direction can make a big difference to confidence and results.
Students are going into Easter breaks soon and then before we know it, it'll officially be exam season. If you need a reminder for what steps your teen should be taking whilst revising to make the most of their extra study time, you can see my advise here:
Over the next few weeks, things are going to be quite busy on my end as well.
I’ve started working with students inside my Easter Intensive Biology Revision Course, and I’ll also be running a second cohort starting next week.
So if you’ve been thinking about putting some structure in place for your teen, there is still time to join that.
Alongside that, I’ll also be running two focused workshops:
1️⃣ Exam Prep, Routine & Study Strategy (possibly April 17th 6pm TBC)
Helping students build a simple plan, manage stress, and adjust how they revise in the lead-up to and during exams
2️⃣ Scientific Literacy Workshop (Biology) (possibly April 24th 6pm TBC)
With scientific literacy often times taking up to 30% of the marks within the biology exam, AND the answers repeating every single year - there's no excuse to not have these marks in the bag.
I will spend a workshop breaking down how to approach data-based questions and understand exactly what the mark scheme is looking for
I’ll be sharing more details on both of these soon — so keep an eye out if you’d like your teen to take part.
And then from May - my 1:1 slots will be opening up again and I'll be taking on students for summer tutoring.
I'll also be gearing up to run my next cohort of The Study Strategy Lab 🧪 over the summer! If you've never heard of this - this is my 5 week signature programme for Nat 5 and Higher students to learn to study in a way that actually makes the difference.
I'll help them personalize their revision methods, their time and deadline management skills, learn about student mindset, discipline and stress resilience and so much more. If this sounds interesting to you - then you can sign up your teen to the priority waitlist to first hear about this and secure places!
This will be launching again in June!
So - busy, busy, busy!
I know this period can feel a bit full-on.
But with the right approach, it can also be a really valuable window to build clarity and confidence before exams.
As always, if you have any questions or want to check what might be best for your teen, just reply — I’m always happy to help.
Speak soon,
Brodie
